How to spot a liar

In the Ted talk, “How to spot a liar” Pamela Meyer explains that everyone including yourself is a liar. Throughout the ted talk she presents 2 of the most used patterns to spot a liar. The first sign she introduced was by someones speech. The main signs to look for through someones speech are people who are extremely in denial and also when they change the subject. The second sign of a liar is ones body language. The most important signs to look for are, to much eye contact and a fake smile. Pamela Meyer describes the many ways to spot signs of lying by using several examples and ways she feels are key to spot liars.

In my opinion, this Ted talk was very interesting. A lot of the Ted talks I watched previous to this one were very boring to me. However, when I found this Ted talk I didn’t want to stop watching it. I learned many different ways to spot a liar such as certain types of head shakes, gestures and expressions. Now that I know so many different ways to spot a liar I’m going to start trying it out on people. This Ted talk was very informational and she used a great process to present her speech.

  1. The challenge will be what to do once you know/feel someone is lying to you. Do you call him/her out on it?
